Strange ghost file in Medieval:Redux

Unread post by Avecezar » Thu Oct 15, 2020 9:22 am

For the said track Medieval: Redux there is no common ghost file generated nor *.times. It seems all data is present within a tiny file named Medieval. In other words there is no Medieval.laplocal nor Medieval.times present, although time trial table and ghost are there. Can you check if it's a bug or normal situation?

The game tries to create a file with a colon : character in its filename. Windows file system does not allow that in any normal circumstances, hence why you see empty right before that character begins.
If the file is still read by the game, then it is probably still there, named like it should be, only Windows is showing to you like that.

It could be solved by making an exception for unsupported characters and converting them to space or empty while the file is created in the game code.

Your only solution at the moment is to either play on Linux or rename the track in .inf file, so it wouldn't include a colon.
