Hello, welcome to my brand new monthly event!

The idea behind this is to make more people interested in trackmaking and to make it more fun. To participate you'll have to make a track according to the rules of the challenge. Anyone can participate. Every month a new challenge will be posted and it will be up to you to try it out! At the end of the month i'll set up a vote and the creator with the most votes will win. At the end of the year the creator with most points wins. I don't have a prize yet.

You may be hard pushed to create a single texture track with track editor alone without utilising some of the older track editing tools which can be found here : https://revolt_f1.webs.com/rvtoolshed.htm

Hey, I am delaying the deadline by 5 days incase you are running short on time and don't think you can make it.
Therefore send me the link/files until December 6th, 12:00 UTC!
In other news; the new Trackmakers Challenge is going to be announced tommorow, so stay tuned!
Also, thx Manmountain for the useful link!

I'd also like to join, my entry is Phantom Road.

Use the shader renderer, as it glitches around when using legacy renderer.

Hi! I know doing a track without textures might sound hard, but don't worry im here to help you!
In this short tutorial we're going to learn the wonders of vertex shading!
Here's a simple step by step guide on how you should make a track without textures:
  1. Make the track model. I reccommend checking out the basic blender tutorial on re-volt.io, if you don't know how do make models or use the addon.
    Here's my quick model:
    Image
  2. Think about how you want to shade the map. You might have to split the mesh into more pieces to achieve the desired effect.
  3. Basics. Ok anyway, to do vertex shading, select your model and go to edit mode. In the left side pannel select Re-Volt. You will see Vertex Shading (see image below)
    Image
Select your whole model or just a part of it and then press Create vertex layer. You will see a rgb color picker show up. Now, to see what you're doing you have to be in texture mode so do that.
    Image
  4. Painting. There's few ways to do this. You can use either vertex select, edge select or face select to make up different effects. You can find them here:
    Image
Vertex select lets you do some shading in between the colors, see image below. I use this when i want to have a smooth translation between two parts of the mesh or to do said shading.
    Image
Edge select works around the edges and also does the shading effect. I don't use this myself.
    Image
Face select lets you work around your model like a fill tool. Select a face, and it'll fill the whole face with that color. See image below.
    Image
  5. And last but not least, testing how it works in game! Here's my model in blender and ingame after doing this.

I hope it was helpful!

I'll copy the instructions for VerTAG Paint from the readme here. ;)
This track was created for Zeino's Trackmakers Challenge of January. The goal was to create a track using only vertex paint. This track is quite special, I can't really categorize it, since it's both a sprint track and a tag track. Your goal on this track is to finish it before the time expires. You get as many points, as the number shows next to the field you're on (visible in the thumbnail).

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Install the track.
2. When you open the game, go into `Options` -> `Game Settings`, and set `Battle Tag Time` to 1 minute.
3. Go to `Multiplayer`, then `Start Game`. Choose the Battle Tag option, then pick name, car and track like you usually do. For a fun challenge, I can recommend R6 Turbo, but feel free to play around with cars (might want to start with pros to learn the track).
4. Select the track (`VerTAG Paint`). Go into the waiting room. *Make sure no one has entered your lobby :o*
5. Race and finish the track. You'll see fields with numbers next to them at the end, that's how you know how many points you got. They don't mean much, but it's a nice way to challenge yourself!

Guys, take RotoR (orsome other Flipped=TRUE car) and go stop at Hot Volt, top of the first loop. You’ll be stuck, ‘cause the motor direction constantly switches between flipped / notflipped. Fun effect, even if frustrating. P.S. Don’t change it, I like crazy stuff :)
Hot Volt is my fave track at the moment. Only the small corkscrew shouldn’t be virtual (or maybe it’s an intended mindf*ck, then it’s cool).

Edit: Also, I lik attempting the first corkscrew with slower cars, that can’t fully make it up the screw winding and just barely drop into the next winding :) This track is so much fun.

Greetz,
Ato

I'm glad you like it. It's a fun track but it's also fast, so it needs pretty fast cars. As soon as Zeino updates the tournament you will see the new track. ;)
