PS4 Controller and Split Screen

Is there a way to use my bluetooth ps4 controller without it plugged into my PC? Windows 10. I can use it no problem when its plugged in. Maybe I am missing a setting somewhere.
Edit: When I press the PS button it is recognized in the controller settings. However I am unable to get any of the buttons mapped since it is not plugged in. Tried plugging it in and mapping the buttons as well. Once unplugged it no longer works.
Is it possible to split the screen on 2 different monitors or tv's instead of having it split on 1?
