Re: RVGL now on Arch Linux AUR

Opt would need to be creates separately first with standard permissions: mkdir -m 644 $pkgdir/opt Then when installing files: install -Dm666 (this would create directories with same permission I think, so /opt/rvgl and below directories will have 666 and be writable). Directories need executable pe...

Re: RVGL now on Arch Linux AUR

I'm thinking maybe we should make /opt/rvgl/ directory and all the files writable by any user (666, game binary should be 755 and .desktop file -- 644). Reason to do that is users might want to mod their game conents and we should not prevent to do that. Ok, let's do it. What about folders though? ...

I contacted Marv (the site owner) about this, let's see if we can figure something out.
Do you have suggestions of your own for any alternatives?

Can you upload your rvgl.ini and re-volt.log files? Also, which other OpenGL games have you tried on this system?

With shaders= 1 and Progile=3, I see again these hiccups of frame. I'm sure that is a problem between RVGL and the 2004 update.
All my game run smooth. Only RVGL has this problem.
Are you sure you have V-Sync on? What is your frame rate in-game?

Re: ipv6 support

ENet in fact doesn't support IPv6, even though patches were contributed multiple times. This is because it will be a major, compatibility-breaking change. I've been considering forking ENet and applying the patches myself, but we'd still need IPv6 users available for testing.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Save keyboard and controller mappings separately

Yep, this has been requested before (on ORP?) and it's planned. The issue with having mappings per-controller is uniquely identifying controllers in a cross-platform way. I'm afraid this might not be possible, which means mappings will get reset when moving a profile from Windows to Linux (or other ...

Re: Give player(s) host permissions

I have to look into this when working on dedicated server support. There were complications with the v1.2 implementation which is why it didn't make it in RVGL.

Re: Xbox 360 wireless controller - can't make it working correctly

The controller support on Android can be a bit broken, and I suspect this to be due to bugs / limitations in the SDL2 version that the game is built with. Recent SDL2 updates bring much needed improvements to the Android controller support, so wait for the next RVGL release. I can also post a test b...

Re: Problem "hiccup" in RVGL

I'm glad the issue seems solved for now. I'm reading that the 2004 update introduced a lot of issues in general, so that could just be it. In case the issue comes back, I have a few points in mind: You mentioned "i have frame around 300 and 500", which implies v-sync was off. This could have overhea...

There is nothing peculiar with the name selection screens AFAIK. You should be able to use the equivalent of Enter / Esc (or Forward / Back) on your controller as with any other menu. Doesn't it work this way?

Re: Status of WeGoI

Well, they don't have implications on the development of RVGL, only on the release of source code. The long term goal is to move away completely from the Re-Volt IP and turn RVGL into a general purpose engine / platform for games like Re-Volt, thus making it possible to release RVGL's code publicly.

I think that game operates on more accurate position coordinates and time (more accurate than 0,001s), thus the difference lower than 0,001s is not represented in the times table, but the game registers one car finishing a smidgen faster than the other and shows that in the results table. I can con...

Actually, I just remembered that custom tracks can have their own challenge times. It means it can work like this: Unlock R by beating the track's Normal Time Trial challenge. Unlock M by beating the track's Reversed Time Trial challenge. Unlock RM by beating the track's Mirrored Time Trial challeng...

How do you think unlocking of reverse / mirror / reverse-mirror variants should be handled? I thought about it this way: (also, you've missed Obtain 2 for some reason - unlock by completing Time Trials). Edit : List updated on 24-04-2020. -1 - Never Unlock (unless DEV or TRACKER cheat). 0 - Standard...

You cycle through camera views with the Change Camera button. This is F1 by default, unless it was reconfigured. In Replay and Spectator modes, pressing F1 does disable the automatic switching.

In this case, updating RVGL is really the answer. A fix for Intel HD 3000 was added in the latest version:
  - Shaders: Restored lights and effects layout to use distinct uniform arrays.
Works around Intel driver bugs that cause crash during shader compilation.

Re: [RVGL] Battle Tag Star Speed Bug

This is a lesser known trivia, but the game actually slows down the car holding the star (the 'it' car). Apparently this slowing down is tied to the difficulty setting, which is not intended and will be fixed. Toyeca's top speed is really 40mph. But does this also means that the AI is faster in gene...
