Re: Discord vs. Open Internet

News and Announcements (Same as posts in Discords #announcement channel) Agreed. I will try to post Discord announcements on the website more often from now on. "Unofficial" lobbies in the event scheduler (same as posts in Discords #lobbies channel) I tried this in the past, but it's a lot of work....

Re: RVGL Issue

That 2nd step can be skipped entirely. There's not much point in installing 1.2 if you're just going to use RVGL afterwards anyway, unless you want to use 1.2 alongside; but I don't think 1.2 would work well if you have RVGL installed on top of it, so it'd be best to keep them in separate installs. ...

Reading replays from archives

In the RVIO session archive , we keep the replay files in sets, zipped up as 7Z files. I'm wondering if it'd be possible to have the game read directly from these files without the need to extract them, with "Next Replay" or "Previous Replay" listed in the menu. Just a thought. It's not much trouble...

Re: RVGL Startup speed

I just tried it as well, can confirm that it's also happening on my end. Moving out all the replays (I had 469 .rpl files) reduces the wait time from 30 seconds to just 1-3 seconds. Counted the seconds from launching the game up until the loading screen appears.

No problem at all! Sakura actually already has three songs assigned to it, including The Man's song. Definitely wouldn't mind one more, and I think your song would make a great addition!

Re: Cutting people off by mandatory Discord

Indeed, all official events always have the IP addresses posted on the events page, specifically to keep Discord from being a requirement. Unfortunately, this is not always possible with unofficial events, as hosts might not be okay with having their IPs listed publicly in advance, or they might hav...

Re: Horizon screen on Android version

Ditto on having horizontal screen as the default setting. Most other racing games I've played on mobile (granted, there haven't been a lot of them) do that as well. I think auto-rotation would still be okay if restricted to 180 degrees, though I can definitely see people trying to play the game upsi...

Re: Redbook variations

That would definitely work out fine. Quite frankly, I agree that this is better than extending the REDBOOK functionality. I don't think we need tracks in a certain order (REDBOOK randomizes them too after all), so that shouldn't be an issue. The only problem I can see with this is that we can't vary...

Re: Horizon screen on Android version

+1. I had this issue as well, especially with the part about playing the game while laying down in bed. Roll on your side, and suddenly the game rotates as well in the middle of the race. I hardly ever use auto-rotate aside from playing Re-Volt, so it would be one less step too.

Re: Redbook variations

Sorry for bumping, but is there any chance we'll get this feature soon? I'd like to update the music pack and I need to know how to deal with it. If not possible, I'll just add the community-made soundtrack in /music/rvio and randomly assign single songs to custom tracks that don't have anything yet...

Re: Auto-generated .txt chat log file

Agreed. This would be nice, especially if coupled with the ability to hide the chat mid-race (for anyone interested in catching up with the chat afterwards, if the ability to scroll through its history is not viable).

Re: Car names at results screen?

This would be a very handy feature to have. I'd love to see it in the ladder results, and it would be cool to have for most other events as well. If you end up adding it, send me some test session logs with the feature, and we'll check if it causes any issues with the session parser (and if it does,...

I will include it in the I/O pack, though it will come with an optional module for visual enhancements like this. Hope you don't mind me reposting this here, but here's a custom skybox for the track as well. Skybox recommended by flyboy from here . https://i.imgur.com/1soNe7C.png https://i.imgur.com...

After the latest RVGL update, Shara posted the following image on Discord: https://i.imgur.com/0xhlDou.png I wanted to repost the associated suggestion here: it would be cool to have the ability to make custom cameras handle like the default cameras, by swaying behind the car whenever it's turning, ...

Autosaving Replays

The new replay system is amazing and I am sincerely thankful for its implementation. It will be very useful personally and for RVIO sessions, particularly in terms of reviewing races and for fun video montages. I have asked the RVIO hosts to save as many replays as possible for archiving purposes. U...

Re: 20th Re-Volt Anniversary

That's fine as well, if people prefer that. I'm personally a fan of retro PCs and retro gaming and thought it would be cool, especially for veterans (if they do join us at all). Figured I might not be the only one interested in something like that. Of course, in the end, it really depends on what's ...

20th Re-Volt Anniversary

This year, on July 31st, we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the game. This is a very special occasion and I'd like to provide a place for us to discuss ideas on how to celebrate it. This isn't meant just for events organized by us in the Re-Volt I/O team. I strongly urge everyone, from a...

Re: [WIP] track-project

It should work out fine if you speed it up. No one's going to stay and analyze every nook and cranny of the track up close, and I think this looks quite alright from a distance. Definitely better than the old one, in any case.
